About Franziska Hansmann

Franziska has been working with passion in the fields of public construction, planning and environmental law for 20 years. She primarily advises and represents local authorities in the planning and implementation of major urban development projects in Berlin, throughout Germany and internationally. These projects regularly involve issues relating to environmental protection, contaminated sites and real estate law.

The perfect blend: legal precision, active listening; creativity, pragmatism.

Another key of Franziska’s practice is the protection of species under nature conservation law which represents many challenges when implementing large-scale projects. Her work includes advising on species protection requirements in the drawing up of development plans, preparing specific applications for exemptions, and supporting clients in the implementation of species protection measures.

Franziska also practises in the field of transport planning law covering all modes of transport (rail, road and waterways).

Furthermore, she advises on public funding and state aid law. She represents funding authorities, funding recipients and funding intermediaries in various areas of public funding, including GRW funds, ERDF funds and BMZ funding for development cooperation.

Franziska also works as a lecturer in her areas of practice and provides in-house training for her clients.

Following a carpentry apprenticeship, Franziska studied law in Hamburg. During her studies, she worked at the Chair of Public Law and at the Research Centre for Environmental Law (Forschungsstelle Umweltrecht). During her legal clerkship, she completed, among other placements, a secondment at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Kenya. She has been admitted to the German Bar since 1997 and has been a certified specialist lawyer for administrative law since 2003.

Before joining avocado rechtsanwälte in October 2026, she was, among other positions, a partner at two Berlin law firms specialising in public commercial law.
