Seminar in Antitrust Law at BARIG

Antitrust Law – Why should I care?

The current investigations launched by the EU and US antitrust authorities against various airlines to investigate allegations of price fixing in the air freight sector have attracted a great deal of attention in the press. At the same time these investigations highlight the advent of a new era in the airline industry: The good old days when price fixing and negotiated route access and flight capacities were common practice and these were covered by exemptions from the application of EU antitrust law are gone when it comes to traffic to and from or within the EU.

Today air traffic is subject to EU antitrust law without any exception or exemption whatsoever and violations of applicable competition rules may result in fines of hundreds of millions Euros. As a result hereof, most airlines from within the EU, but also other airlines serving destinations in the EU will be confronted with a variety of challenges. The purpose of our seminar is to create awareness of the basic do’s and don’ts of competition law and to provide an opportunity to discuss some particular issues which are relevant for the airline industry with the participants.

We cordially invite you to join us for this seminar and to learn how the new rules will affect your day to day business.

The seminar will be held at the Frankfurt office of avocado rechtsanwälte. Additional details are given below.
